Ran into this post earlier today with a choice quote from an old movie I enjoyed:

“In order to make delicious food, you must eat delicious food. The quality of ingredients is important, but one must develop a palate capable of discerning good and bad. Without good taste, you can’t make good food." - Jiro Ono in Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011)

The sentiment shared in Prasatt’s post I agree with. It’s something I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while. I feel like if you graded my consumption of creative media these days it would mostly be empty calories. As they say, garbage in, garbage out. I’ve been trying to be more mindful of what I’m consuming these days, since if you leave it to the algorithms you’ll quickly end up on a treadmill of content that isn’t serving your creative needs or furthering your own growth.
